Coronavirus Procedure

We have made changes in the way we work in the studio to try and make it as safe as possible during the Coronavirus panademic by observing government guidelines, while still maintaining a relaxed, sociable environment.

Please read through the key measures below, and if you have any questions or concerns please just get in touch.

Should you feel unwell with Coronavirus symptoms please do not attend your booked class. If we are forced to lockdown again we will close immediately and refunds will be given.

  • There will be no more than 4 students at a workshop unless you are a household group or ‘bubble’ and have booked your workshop as such.

  •  Please bring your own aprons as the shared aprons will not be used at the moment.

  •  You are encouraged to bring your own tools if you have them.

  •  Please use the hand gel provided on arrival at your workshop, and frequently throughout the class. There is a sink with soap and hot water if you prefer to use this.

  • Hot and cold drinks will be provided, together with individually wrapped snacks. Disposable gloves will be worn while making the drinks and the cups will be washed in hot soapy water after use.

  • You will be asked to leave your name and phone number to allow you to be contacted for the government’s Track and Trace service. This will allow you to be contacted if someone at a Workshop tests positive for the virus. It is not obligatory to leave your details, and they will be destroyed in 21 days.

  • Changes have been made in the way students work to reduce the amount of movement around the studio. Perspex screens have been put up to create ‘booths’ which will allow you to work safely at your personal workstation without the need for other measures, such as face-mask and visors, but if you prefer to take these extra measures they will be provided, or please feel free to bring your own. You will be provided with your own set of frequently used tools (such as needle files, piercing saw, pliers, etc) and soldering is also to take place at your workstation.

  • There will be occasions when you have to move to use some of the equipment or use some of the shared tools (for example, bangle mandrels, barrel tumbler, rolling mill). Please be aware of other people when moving around. If you are in close proximity to another student at these times please wear a face-mask or visor.

  • Use the hand gel provided before and after using all shared tools. Disposable gloves will be provided if you prefer to use these. Please wipe down all shared tools immediately after use with the disinfectant wipes provided.

  • Due to the small class sizes it will usually be possible to maintain a 1 metre-plus distance between everybody during your workshop. When this isn’t possible, for example when we are demonstrating something that needs a closer proximity, we will wear protective visors, and they will also be available for you if you prefer.

  • If you need to use the customer toilet across the courtyard, please wipe the toilet seat and sink with the spray provided after use.

  • Please give your workbench and tools a wipe down at the end of the class with the disinfectant wipes.

Most importantly of all, we hope you enjoy your Workshop!
